Hello,
I would like to set up a SG20 as Access Point.
I have installed the Wireless Card, but doesn't Work. (SG20 say that it work)
The Magnia Toshiba software say me that the card is installed but with my laptop I can't see the Access Point.
The problem is not the Security Key, or the Chanel, the problem is that I can't see the Access Point, the Card is installed.
let me know
thanks

First, did you install an ORINOCO card? Gold or silver? The magnia only supports the silver, and NO OTHER BRANDS. This is usually why people have problems.
Second, do you have MAC FILTERING enabled on the magnia? Turn it off for now. Also forget WEP, it is a total waste of your time. Once you get the network working, enable mac filtering and put in the mac address of your notebook.
Third, is your pc or notebook set to AD-HOC or INFRASTRUCTURE mode? You want infrastructure.
Fourth, check your channel and network identifier (I think the default is 6, magnia); you usually don't really have to worry about the channel, as the notebook will automatically scan all channels. Sometimes the ssid is important.
FINALLY - and perhaps this should have been first:
Windows XP by default enables IEEE 802.1x authentication for any new networking device. Most home systems do not support this feature. You need to turn it off. Double-click on your network traffic indicator for this connection (in your system tray, looks like two little computer monitors), the Local Area Connection Status for this device comes up. Click on "Properties", go to the "Authentication" tab, and uncheck "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."
Let me know if any of this fixed it for you.

There was a forum issue on YaHoo magnia user group about using the gold on older builds. I don't think 2.6.2 supports the gold. You have to add files to the OS.
I KNOW for SURE that the silver works.
This is very important, if you are not SURE with linux - DON'T DO IT !
Linux is a very stable operating system, but the distribution must have device support installed. It's not like windows where you can just plug any old thing in. The magnia is very restricted. Toshiba made the distribution pretty sparce, without much support for other devices. They did not expect / did not want users to modify the system files.
